THE HIDDEN GEM OF THE TREASURE COAST

A lesser-known town that lets you escape the hustle and bustle of Jupiter, West Palm Beach, and the like, Stuart, Florida offers incredible restaurants, fun nightlife, endless golf courses to choose from, and, of course, a watersports playground.

Traveling to & Around Stuart

Getting Here

The closest airport to fly into is Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). If done properly, you can be in the water kiting within an hour of touching down. Another option is to fly into Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport (FLL) which is ~1.5 hrs by shuttle or rental car to Hutchinson Island. You can also fly into Orlando (MCO) where flights tend to be a bit cheaper and you can expect a two hour drive to reach us. There are also a few smaller airports, often used for private charters and smaller planes down to the area including Witham Field, Stuart Jet Center, Vero Beach Regional Airport, and Atlantic Aviation.

Getting Around

If you come to visit us in Stuart, we recommend renting a car for your visit. It will allow you greatest flexibility to go out downtown, explore the area, and, most importantly, go out for a delicious dinner after a long day of kiting. As we mentioned, cars can be rented at all major airports upon arrival. However, if you don’t wish to rent a car, you can also get around easily by Uber or carshare.

Where to stay

The easiest place to stay and kite with us is on Hutchinson Island. We highly recommend both The Hutchinson Island Marriott Resort & Marina, as well as the recently opened Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa.

HUTCHINSON ISLAND MARRIOTT RESORT & MARINA

With a moderate price point and quality accommodations, this resort includes on-site restaurants, golf, tennis, pools, and beachfront activities. When staying here, you can walk right out of your room onto our boat and waste no time in hitting the water to kite! Use code 17NXTO for 10% off when you book your room.

HUTCHINSON SHORES RESORT AND SPA

At a slightly higher price point, this resort was fully renovated in late 2017 and has new, luxury accommodations. The property is located on the oceanfront of Hutchinson Island and includes an on-site restaurant, pools, and a spa. It's just a short drive to the marina where we keep our boat and a quick 15 minute boat ride to the riding area. Here you can also ride oceanside right out front of the hotel. Check it out here.

AIRBNB & VRBO

There is a myriad of great houses for rent close to Stuart downtown that range from waterfront castles to small, reasonable spots. Most require a short drive to our location at the Marriott or, if you get the right spot, we can pick you up by boat. Explore AIRBNB & VRBO.

Best Places to Eat

Stuart has a variety delicious food at reasonable prices in quiet, low key settings. You're sure to find something for everyone!

Breakfast & Lunch

Bagel Break Deli

Our favorite breakfast spot on the way to the water with New York-style bagels made fresh. They also have great wraps and sandwiches made-to-order.

Broadway Bagels

Bacon egg & cheeses, omelets, and bagels located close to downtown. Serving Boar’s Head products, it is a New England-style deli.

Stuart Coffee Co.

The best coffee in town with a relaxed vibe, speedy internet, and a variety of breakfast and lunch options. It is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee and catch up on your emails.

Ital Bowls

A MUST GO! Located across from the Hutchinson Island Marriott, they serve delicious, fresh, healthy food and are the friendliest people around.

Island Pantry

Also located across from the Hutchinson Island Marriott, it is a deli within a gas station that makes surprisingly good sandwiches.

Dinner

The Twisted Tuna

Located in Port Salerno on the waterfront, this is one of our favorite go-to restaurants. From seafood to sushi to pasta to pizza, the menu is a bit all over the map, but it’s all really good. Plus, the live music and bar give diners a true taste of Florida at a reasonable price. Be sure to ask about the free scoop of ice cream that comes with every meal.

The Boathouse

Located in downtown Stuart directly on the waterfront, this spot is a bit fancier with seafood, sushi, and pasta offerings along with great cocktails.

Riverwalk Cafe & Oyster Bar

Just up from the downtown waterfront, this is one of the nicest restaurants in Stuart. Their oyster and food selection is unreal, but since they are open limited days of the week, it can be difficult to get a reservation.

Sneaki Tiki

Taco Tuesdays has become a ritual for us. You can’t go wrong with the house margarita, which is even better with an extra shot of tequila. The food is cheap, delicious and hits the spot every time. Plus, the live music and relaxed atmosphere makes it super fun!

Spritz City Bistro

Delicious Italian food and strong cocktails at a fair price point. Highly recommend.

Carsons Tavern

Located just across the bridge from The Hutchinson Island Marriott, this is our go-to after a long day on the water. Remarkably good food paired with a strong beer, wine, and cocktail selection at a great price.

Taco Shack

Tasty, handmade tacos paired with good beer and one of the best hot sauce selections we’ve found in a while in a low-key atmosphere. That is all.

Nightlife & Libations

Sailor’s Return

This idyllic waterfront spot attracts everyone from cruisers to locals and always provides some great people watching. It’s a favorite for sunset cocktails.

Vine & Barley

A classic beer and wine tasting spot, this is a great place to chill out with your friends and expand your palette for drinking.

The Crafted Keg

This place has an amazing beer selection, offers live music on occasion, and lets you head home with growlers. You can also play connect four and other bar games.

Terra Fermata

This is local go-to for live music. A large open air spot with great bar service and great bands -- we highly recommend it.

Square Grouper & Guanabanas

A bit of a drive or Uber ride located down in Jupiter, these spots get wild at night and are very fun if you want a true night out away from the quieter Stuart.

Activities Beyond Kiting

  • Golf - There are tons of golf courses to take advantage of when you come to Stuart. Many offer rental clubs, but, when possible, we recommend bringing your own. We’ve played each of the following courses, and they each offer a great round at a reasonable rate.
  • Go Fish - The fishing in Stuart is world class for snook, grouper, and even sailfish if you go offshore into the Gulf Stream. Check out our friend at In Depth Charters who offers both inshore and offshore adventures.
  • Surf - Hutchinson Island has beautiful exposure to winter storm swell and can offer incredible surfing. Talk to our friends at Ohana Surf Shop to get the best intel on where to go and to get a board to ride.
  • Chase Alligators - Stuart is a reasonable drive from the Florida Everglades to the south. While we don’t recommend wakeboarding behind these fan boats (we’ve asked, they said no), it’s a very fun day.
  • Rent a Boat - Go rent a boat with your family and broaden your perspective of our incredible home spot. Talk to our friends at Beach Watersports to get a pontoon boat or center console to fit everyone in.
  • Check Out a Museum - One of the coolest places on our bucket list is The National Navy Seal Museum up in Vero Beach. Closer to Stuart is the Elliott Museum, which is full of vintage American cars.
